Team Albany/Brooklyn Educational Basketball Program builds Brighter Futures Through Education and Basketball
" We are with your child from Start To Finish "
Team Albany Educational Basketball Program was founded 15 years ago by Jamel Grant-Samuels. Initially called Schenectady Logic Tech, it was started as an outlet to the kids of the Schenectady YMCA and now has kids from all over the Capital District. Many successful players have gone through the program, earning scholarships to division I, II, and III schools.
In the year 2000, Coach Grant made the transition of bringing the program to the city of Albany in which he found many resources to contiinue to provide an outlet for inner city kids. Now called the Albany Lions, he took the same approach as he did with his Schenectady teams which is to take on the toughest competition he could find. Within the next couple of years there were 2 teams and volunteer coaches added. At this time he came across most of the talented players in Albany, coaching most of them while in they were in their developmental stages.
2005 was the start of the current Team Albany program.
What once started as one team has grown into 5 boys teams and 2 girls teams. The program will continue to improve on changing its status from developmental to elite. Along with our athletic endeavors, we also serve our past and present student/athletes in the classroom and in every aspect of their lives.
